Education – A High Priority
We need to strengthen our educational system in Utah within current budget constraints. Education must be one of our top priorities and the future of our state depends upon providing all of our children with the tools necessary to allow them to compete in a global economy. I strongly support public and private educational choices for our children.
Second Amendment Rights
I will vote to maintain the rights of citizens to keep and bear arms for purposes of protection, recreation and collection. I will support legislation to promote gun safety and responsible gun ownership.
The Economy
I believe that our economy ties with education as top issues with voters in the 6th District. I will work tirelessly with members of both parties, West Side Chambers of Commerce and Municipal Economic Development Directors to bring industry and higher paying jobs to Utah.
Ethics and transparency in Government
“Legislative 'ethics': Anything goes if it's done in secret . . . and kept secret.” So reads a headline in the Salt Lake Tribune. I totally disagree as do the voters in Senate District 6. We need ethics reform – the voters want it, the Republican dominated legislature has done nothing about it. If elected, I will fight for it.
Transportation
Transit options: East – West, TRAX, and the Mountain View Corridor (NO TOLL) are all needed now. No one individual has the answers to our transportation needs however; working together we can solve our transportation needs.
Health Care Reform
All of our citizens deserve affordable health care.
